European Architectures of Climate Change

Abstract

The history of the European Union can be told as a utopian project against the backdrop of crisis developments. This can also be seen in the negotiation of the European project during the period of the Corona pandemic or climate change. In times of upheaval, fears and hopes of society as a whole increase in equal measure. At present, for example, there are fears that existing social inequalities, such as those between city and countryside, or centre and periphery, will become more acute. And at present, for example, there is hope for a new-found social cohesion and global solidarity, which would also benefit the environment. This article proposes climate-friendly future thinking about architecture and cities as an essential part of a Green New Deal in a future European Republic — towards critical regional European Architectures of Climate Change (EACC).
